Brentford FC Home Shirt 1974/75Discover the iconic shirt of Brentford FC 1974/75, a nostalgic return for football and history fans.
The 60s and 70s were two decades of frustration for Brentford, as the club tried to recapture the memory of its glorious years in the top tier during the 30s. More often than not stuck in English League Division 4, the few promotions to the third tier during this period brought little more than difficulties and, quite often, a swift return to the bottom of the ladder.
Promoted in 1972 and then relegated the very next season, Michael Everitt's team started the 1974 - 75 season with the aim of doing much better than the modest 19th place achieved the previous year.
Despite the efforts of talented Scottish inside left Jackie Graham and the powerful defensive pillar Alan Nelmes, Brentford only finished in eighth place. It was an improvement compared to the previous year, but not enough to seriously contend for promotion. Everitt left the club at the end of the season, as did long-time cult hero Peter Gelson, whose 15 years at the club came to an end after over 500 appearances.
